A week of Changes!!

So this has been an interesting week. Last Wednesday Riley finally let go and started walking all on his own without Jesse and I being there and holding our hands out for him. He just let go and so since Wednesday my life has really really changed. I used to be able to just sit back and watch him play or put a movie on for him. Now he is officially on the go always wanting to get down and go exploring around the house for things that he can get to now that he has learned his new skill of walking. Since Sunday he has hardly fallen at all so he is doing very well with the walking. He still has a hard time standing up on his own. He always crawls over to the wall or the couch or a chair and pulls himself up against it and then lets go and starts walking. If nothing is there to support him then he just crawls around until he finds something to help him stand. He has also discovered the garbage and the toilet since we moved into the new house. Before those were blocked off with a gate but because there is no doorway or hallway short enough for the gate he has full range now. He also likes to find things off of the floor to put into the toilet and he likes to empty some of the things out of the garbage. GRRRRRR!!! We still really love him though. He also really has developed a love for doors. He will go to cupboard doors, the doors that close on his change table or any one or two doors he can find and open and close them and then open and close them. He can't open the big doors such as bedroom doors, the door to outside etc but he can shut them and then you hear him squawking for one of us to come open it for him so he can get in or out.

We also had a change in our Ward on Sunday. We have only been in the ward for 3 Sunday's and we got a new Bishop, Bishop Gibb. For those of you that know the Clarkdale Ward in Sherwood Park his name is Eldon Gibb, his councillors are Clint Heath and Brad Ackroyd. Our old Bishop was Bishop Simpson. I also got a new calling. I am a Sunday school to the 12-13 year old. My brother inlaw Lloyd Atwood also got a new calling. He was made a High Priest on Sunday because his new calling is an Alternate High Councilman and the Second councillor in the Stake Young Mens. Jesse's parents came up for that. There is also a change with them as well. They got their mission call to the Vancouver Canada Mission. They leave for the MTC this Saturday and have to be there on Monday. They will be gone for a year and a half. We will miss them but are happy for them that they are able to serve a mission. Riley will be 2 1/2 when they come home, that is crazy. I hope he remembers them. So those are the big changes of the week and I know it's late but I wanted to wish all the Father's a Happy Father's Day!!Here are some pictures of Riley!!!!

Riley when he took his first steps. He was a like a week away from turning 14 months when he started walking.
He loves books!! He emptys all his books onto the floor everyday from off his shelf but he looks at one then puts it down gets another one looks at it and so on.

He loves the stairs!

Playing with the vacuum

He loves to open and close the garbage can!
Playing at the toilet his new found toy!

Riley is walking!!

So this last week I have been trying very hard to teach Riley to walk because he is getting very heavy and it is very hard carrying him around all the time. Also with the crawling his hands are always so dirty and he has bruises on his knees. So just this last Tuesday he took about 3 steps at first and then Jesse and I eventually got him to walk across his room. Jesse would sit on one end of the room and me on the other. We held our hands out to him and he would walk to us. At first he wouldn't he would just start crawling. Then I would hold a toy out to him but his hand and he would reach for it and each time he would I would move back.
Today at church Jesse walked around the halls with him towards the end of sacrament meeting because he just would not sit still. Then during Sunday school I was giving him a snack then he wanted to get down so I let him down. He just took off taking many steps. More than he ever has before. He did that for the rest of the day. He is pretty half and half now. He is getting brave and tries to walk but when he sees something he wants right away he will fall down and crawl because he can get to it faster that way. Anyways too bad I couldn't get any pictures of videos of him walking at church because he did sooooooo good. We are planning to video tape him tomorrow night and get some good picture now that we finally found our camera again. So some pictures will follow soon. Just thought we would let you all know that Riley is finally walking, he sure took his time but that is fine with me. He will be 14 months this Wednesday, he is growing up way to fast.

Moving

Well for those of you that don't know we moved to Sherwood Park on Monday. it was a long weekend getting everything loaded in the truck. I can't believe we filled a 17 foot truck full of stuff. .I told Jesse that would be too big of a truck and that we did'n't have that much stuff. Well we most definately did, we even filled the car and van and some things in Jesse's brother Lloyd's truck.

We applied last year to a few housing C0-ops in Sherwood Park and a year later here we are moving into one. We got into the Brittany Lane Housing Co-op. For those of you that are not familiar with what a Co-op is, it is a bunch of townhouses in duplexs, triplexes and four plexes. A housing cooperative is formed when people join with each other to own or control the buildings in where they live. To be able to live in the Co-op there are several commitee's and every member has to be on a commitee and do some of the work around the co-op. There is nobody paid to do the work we all help out. That is why the rent is cheap because we have to work to have low rent. If you don't then you will get asked to leave. To put it in easier terms it is like the church, everyone has a calling and you have to do that calling to live in the Co-op. You can either magify your calling or do the bare minimum but you have to do something. The only difference is if you don't do your calling in the church you are not kicked out. Jesse will be on the maintenance commitee and I will be in the Social commitee planning parties and events and stuff.

It is fun so far, all the neighbours seem to have kids are are friendly. Riley seems to be having a hard time with it so far. Every since we moved out of our other place we are back at square one needing to get him back on a schedule. He used to go to bed at night and for his naps really good. He never ever cried. Since we moved here everytime I put him down for a nap or to bed he screams for a good half hour at least the longest one was an hour and a half. He even crys when I leave the room. I am hoping he will grow out of this soon because it is making me tired. I still trying to organize everything and unpack and then hopefully it will look like home for him. I don't know where my camera is right now otherwise I would have posted some pictures. I will next time. I hope you are all having a good month so far.
